I was involved in a horrific road traffic crash on Monday, involving myself, another car and a 20 ton lorry.
Ok so ‘horrific’ is a bit of an exageration. I was outside the Tesco express where they were having a delivery and the Lorry was parked opposite the parking bays. There was not much room for manoeuvring and I was concerned about scraping my front wing on the corner of the Lorry. In fact I was so concerned that I forgot about the rear and scuffed the bumper of another car.
Thankfully the owner was very friendly, but it was an expensive mistake to make.
Well, as mentioned previously, I received my HDD recorder, and set it all up etc. After 2 days it decided to become all brokified and stop playing any disc which you choose to put it. That’s assuming you can put any disc in, since 70% of the time the CD tray refuses to open.
Anyhow, it’s an electrical appliance and you expect them to go wrong sometimes. Thats fine. My issue is with Ebuyer.co.uk who have what is quite possibly the worst customer service and quality control in the whole wide Unimaverse. I’ve ordered from them loads before, and I can’t remember ever having a smooth, trouble free transaction.
So my advice to you is do divert any business you would have had with Ebuyer, to Dabs.com, whom I have also used several times. To date I haven’t needed to sample their customer service (thankfully), but I know pwople who have and they speak highly of it.
P.S. sorry for the silly words like Unimaverse. I’m feeling silly today.
Well there has been a burst of activity on my blog lately. I now have 5 whole people that appear to be reading this blog (going by comments alone). So I’m a happy bunny today.
The other good news is that Lou & Gareth (My sister & hubby) are coming to stay this weekend. Haven’t seen them for ages so it will be nice to spend some time together. They arrive tomorrow morning sometime, and leave Sunday afternoon. It’s quite exciting at the moment, as Lou is 3 months(ish) from being the mother of my niece!
I also got my HDD recorder linked up last night. All seems to work ok. The only downside is that you can’t edit the video on the device, so removing adverts from programmes I’ve taped is not an option. It’s not too much of an issue for me, because I can always whack them on the PC and edit them here instead. Just would’ve been nice.
Today’s low point(s):
I have a wobbly wheel. It’s the front left one and it’s only noticable when you reach 70mph, but it’s a wobble never the less. More of a vibration actually, and I need to get it sorted beefore another tyre goes pop on me. The complication is that I’ve lost the key to my locking wheel nuts, so I can’t actually remove the wheel to look at it. Looks like I shall have to pay a garage £30 to take them off for me, then whatever it’ll cost to check/repair the wheel on top of that.
Today’s high point(s): Sarah’s wetsuit arrived, so we can now go bodyboarding whenever the fancy takes us, and also I have ordered a DVD HDD Recorder which is very exciting. Gone are the days of that damn video player chewing my cassette’s. It’s only a cheapy one called a ‘Mustek Yukai’, but as long as it does the job it’ll keep me happy. It’s also the only one I have seen that has the appropriate outputs for my surround sound system. The other ones I looked at would have required me replacing my amplifier as well. It arrives tomorrow, so I anticipate spending the evening pausing and resuming live tv. Because I can…
“Oh no, they’ve somehow squished a whole whale into someone’s wetsuit!”
No, I promise you they haven’t, it’s just me trying it on. So this is how it looks in the flesh, I thought you might like to see.
Hopefully, I’ll order another one for Sarah tonight (now we know the quality is good), and then we’ll go try them out later this week, assuming it arrives relatively quickly. Anyway, I’m done boring you all with this rubbish, so until I think of some more rubbish to bore you with, Cheerio.
You see the problem with using a tall image in your blog entry is that you feel obliged to keep writing until you’ve reached at least the bottom of the image, which I have now done (at least as close as makes no odds), so I will leave you all in peace.
Congratulations to Stu who is the first person to comment on my blog (who isn’t married/related to me…).
You’ve won absolutely nothing. Although I have added you to my Blogroll, so I guess that’s something.
To me this is quite a landmark, so I felt it deserved an entry. to quote the entire comment, which is remarkably suitable both for the entry he was commenting on, and this one: “Haha! Ace!”
So thanks to Stu for helping me to kick things off, and let the race for 2nd place begin.
I like to read other people’s blogs as often as possible, because A) They can be quite interesting and funny, and B) Why should anyone read mine if I don’t read others. Anyway, I usually spend a few minutes before work each morning catching up on them, but rrecently I’ve been checking blogs and becoming increasingly irritated to find that no-one has written anything for a few days. So I figured I should do my best to avoid hipocrisy by writing one myself.
The Fact that I have nothing to talk about is a problem I must now overcome. Hmm….
Well the highlight of today so far has been the arrival of the wetsuit which I bought on eBay last friday. When you are as sad as I am, this is exciting. I’m looking forward to trying it out. On the left is an artist’s impression of the wetsuit (which I’m probably breaking copyright laws by displaying) to give you an idea of how it looks. It appears the artist has omitted my sizeable belly…
The only other high point has been the chocolate cake one of my colleagues brought in today, and the fact I’m on lunch break now which is always great.
This is a very funny BBC news report on the finding of a Bin Laden tape, which has been re-authored by Adam Buxton (one half of Channel 4′s Adam & Joe).
As mentioned in several previous posts, Sarah and I spent our 2nd anniversary on the Isle of Wight. My photos from the weekend are now available to view by clicking here.
