I was off work yesterday, and am again today, because of a migraine which is beggining to calm now. Enough that I can face using the computer for a bit anyway.
It seems the cause of the migraine is my wisdom teeth shifting position. The lower right tooth is currently rising up and consequently having to break through the gum which is currently covering it. Consequently, the right side of my face is swollen. If I said I was experiencing slight pain, then I would possibly achieve the understatement of the year award, but with the alternative being going to hospital and having them poke me with needles in order to pull it out, I think I’ll just suffer it for now.
I’m not wanting sympathy or anything. Just noting my excuses for not blogging lately.

Last night was the night on which I planned to surprise Sarah for her birthday by taking her to see the feeling at Brighton Dome. If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you’ll know it didn’t remain a surprise for very long.
We went to the concert with quite high expectations, but thankfully the feeling exceeded them by far. We had a really great night and the band were amazing. They seemed quite fired up from the fact that they were from Sussex, so it was a ‘home’ gig for them. They did some amazing acapella stuff, along with all of their popular songs. The did a couple of new ones finishing up with their latest single ‘I love it when you call’. They also did a cover of ‘Video killed the radio star’ which was incredible.
If you ever get the chance to see The Feeling live, seize it!
I hope they bring out either the live album or the DVD of the tour because I really want it!
a picture from the evening is on my photoblog.
I watched the repeat of Have I got News For You last night, and being a wannabe editor, I noticed a bit that really bugged me. For those that don’t think about this sort of thing, the game show is actually a lot longer than 30 minutes. They film loads of questions and cut out all the bits where Ian Hislop isn’t funny.
In last nights edition, the editor had got a bit trigger happy. They got to the ‘odd one out’ round where Ian & guest were given a question. They took ages to answer it and then moved on to the next round.
Hang on a minute… This is a contest isn’t it? surely in the interest of fairness, you have to ask both teams the same number of questions! Especially since they were playing on the fact that Ian’s team had loads of points and Paul Merton & Ross Noble had nothing. Of course they’ll have nothing if you don’t actually ask them any questions!
I appreciate that their answer might not have been particularly funny, but the show doesn’t make sense if you miss bits like that.
I don’t know why that bugged me, it just did. It’s off my chest now.
I just noticed that I haven’t put any pictures in my posts for ages, so I’ve put a picture of Kermit the frog on this one for you.
Last night we put on a fireworks display for the youth section at church (we let the grown ups watch too though) which was great fun. On saturday we went into the fireworks shop with a budget of £100, and made a deal which meant we walked away with £160 worth of goods. I thought that was an achievement. Phil wrote up a risk assesment of the job which was quite funny, and I pointed out that it could never be ‘safe’ for us to be allowed to play with fireworks. Nevertheless we did, and both thouroughly enjoyed ourselves. Neither of us was significantly burned, and the only slight hitch we had was that both lighters and the spare stopped working. but we managed to light a couple of tapers from a match, and we continued to merrily blow things up.
Todays good news is that we were told about our annual pay & bonus reviews at work today. I won’t go into detail, but to give you the general idea, I’m writing this with a big fat grin on my face.
When I get home tonight I’m going to have a nice long relaxing bath and read some more of Thunderball. I’ve been trying to have a bath after work for what feels like a decade, but something always stops me from getting around to it (My Dad has one, maybe I should borrow his). One night the washing up needed doing and I had to tidy things too. Another night I decided to quickly send that ‘important’ enmail before I got in the bath, and ended up looking at eBay instead.
But today I feel very tired even though I went to bed at a thouroughly reasonable hour last night. I also have the tiniest bit of a headache waiting to develop, which is possibly even more irritating that having a proper headache. So therefore I am not going to let anything stop me from having that bath.
Dinner is another problem that needs to be gotten over. So far this morning I have emailed Sarah suggesting we buy chinese food. She replied suggesting burgers and salad. I countered that with an ‘I don’t feel like burgers tonight’ and she then suggested chicken in pitta bread, or if I could wait long enough for the bases to be made, pizza. I definitely want something more substantial than the chicken & pitta, and I’m not sure if I’m in the mood for pizza.
The debate continues.
It’s now roughly 3 weeks until my sister goes pop, and a little person falls out of her.
I’d never really thought about it before, but it dawned on me the other day that there will be a person in the world that I am 24 years older than.
I know that there are thousands of people born every day and so there are already tons of them, but I’d just never thought about it before. the only time I think of that sort of thing is when I have a discussion with someone about their age and therefore they are old enough to have a decent conversation, making the gap about 10 years.
But now there’s gonna be someone I’m 24 years older than. That makes me really old!
It’s gonna be fun when the kid gets to toddler age. Sarah and I don’t want any kids of our own, but we’re looking forward to being the fun aunt & uncle that come and fill the kid(s) with chocolate then shake them up and down and give them back.
I know you can’t tell, but right now I have my little finger in the corner of my mouth, and am chuckling in a Dr Evil stylie…
