Chinese recipies
The last couple of nights we’ve had Sarah’s brother Jonny (the handsome chap pictured right) staying with us, which has been much fun. We wen’t to the brief curch service on good Friday, and then had a picnic with about 15 or so people from church.
Ultimate frisbee turrned out to be more dangerous than it looked. I pulled a hip muscle jumping down a hill and landing awkwardly and also cut my thumb on a different jump, Jonny bruised his hand and most of us nearly suffered heart attacks from actually getting off our bums for once.
The evening was very pleasant too, for the most part.
We had John & Hannah round for dinner, and we ate chinese and watched Dave Gorman’s Googlewhack adventure (which obviously led on to some fruitless googlewhacking). The only down point in the evening was during the preparation of the food. Sarah has a book about cooking chinese, and whilst following the recipe I can only assume that she misread the line that said “transfer the noodles from the saucepan into a serving bowl”. She instead read this as “Pour Scalding water from noodle saucepan over left hand and shout loudly as searing pain ensues”.
The next 3 hours were spent with her hand in a bowl of cold water. I took John and Hannah home and when I returned I tried to convince her to let me take her to casualty. This was clearly a stupid idea though. Instead she rang NHS direct, who she spoke with briefly and then said “I think you should take me to casualty”. If only I’d have thought of that…
Thankfully the NHS were out of character and behaving efficiently for once, so we weren’t there for too long. We had a giggle about the rather inebriated man who’d injured himself whilst attending the Rocky Horror Show dressed as Frankfurter before Sarah’s wounds were dressed and they gave her a small elephants dose of painkillers.
This of course means that all the lovely bank holiday weekend plans (cycling, swimming, pitch & putt etc) which are not do-able with one hand will have to be put off until another weekend.
I don’t really mind though, At least I’m not at work!
