The Lakes Part 3

2 months overdue, I realise, but here is the final installment of our holiday in the lakes back in March. Don’t forget all the whole photo album can be seen at flickr in more detail.

Day 3 was one of the most enjoyable for me. We booked ourselves in for a high ropes course called ‘Go Ape’ in Grizdale. The course would go ahead no matter what the weather, so when it was very wet, we thought ‘oh dear’ but went anyway. We got there too early, so we went to a cafe in Hawkshead where we had lunch in a cafe with the biggest cake ever & Owen decided he loved goat’s cheese.

Then we visited the popular Hawkshead clothing store. I got a pair of un-comfy shoes and Sarah got some very comfy walking boots. I guess her mega-comfort balances out my un-comfort. I swear they were comfy when I tried them in the shop!

Our instructor introduced himself & got us kitted out:

Geared up

After making sure we all knew the safety procedures we were allowed on the course.

Louise nearly died!

No, not really, she’s just being silly:

Here’s a video of the event. I get the prize for most violent landing at the end:

Thursday started out the way all the best days do. We had a lay in.

Once half the day was behind us we walked up a really big hill and found another geocache:

Told you it was high.

We mucked about a bit while we were there & took in the views

jumping

cripes!

On the way home we stopped at the Lakeland shopping centre and decided it was rubbish.

Friday was wet. Very wet. We went to Keswick to find something indoorsy and found ourselves at the puzzling place which was full of crazyness

They had some very cool and very very weird holograms on the walls

The whole experience seemed to puzzle & enrage Sarah who grew into a huge angry giant!

Once we got outside the weather had seemed to clear up, so we went to find another cache on the road to Penrith. At the place where we parked there was a farm that was quite nice. Sadly the farmer was not so nice, probably because he’d been farming all day in the rain I guess.

I think his dog was probably nicer, but was to shy for us to find out:

Once we were suitable far enough away from any sensible cover, the rain fell again and drenched us, but we found the cache nevertheless, near a very swollen river

And that was the end of our holiday. One more sleep at the cottage & then a long drive home via Nuneaton to visit our friend Sean.

A great holiday with some great friends. Hope we get invited again!
