I should be fairly comfortable with ‘city life’ having lived for 21 years in Southampton and now being in my 5th year in Brighton, and I guess I am, but it still feels like a different world when I visit London.
I’m on a training course this week near London bridge, and it felt quite exciting to step off the train at 8.45 and become part of the hustle and bustle of rush hour in the captial of England. I’ve visited London many times, but I still love the feeling of being there. I wouldn’t want to live there, as the feeling would quickly fade, but occasional visits are great.
I went and bought lunch in Tesco metro (i.e. a ‘small’ version of Tesco. In London, the ‘small’ translates as only having 20 checkouts and a further 20 self service lanes.
You aren’t so much served as proccessed, but strangely enough I like it that way. I’m not a particularly well traveled person, but I love travelling. I’m fascinated with other cultures and it felt like one in London today. I’m sure tomorrow it will feel less like that and more so at the end of a ’4 hours a day on trains’ week.
After I’d got my food I went and sat in Finsbury Circus to eat it and indulge in one of my favorite hobbies – sitting and watching the world rush by.
I’m enjoying the course and seem to be progressing above the average, which is encouraging.
Oh yes, and it seems my cat has become a Neighbours fan…
